Ok, first off, we at Diversity Tomorrow apologize for such a lengthy absence. With a desk job, weekend out-of-state photo shoot, getting sick and the computer being on the fritz, it seemed the gods were conspiring against me to announce the winner of Diversity Tomorrow’s first Office Photoshop Contest winner. But alas, all is well, and the results are in…

Our first place winner (and recipient of the Dwight Schrute-inspired mousepad) with 40 votes: Entry #5 (”Schrute First, Ask Questions Later”)

Second Place Runner-Up: A tie between Entry #6 (”Quarantine Area”) and Entry #3 (”What Will You Do?”)

Now, I understand there was an issue within the comments over how relevant Entry #5 was to the photo. If you read the post regarding the initial contest, the only specific instruction was to replace the “Dwight Schrute Workspace” sign with a unique slogan or design. Did it have to match in terms of the context of the scene? Maybe, but I don’t think it was mandatory. It’s “Office” fans who voted to determine the winner, and #5 seemed to strike a chord with most fans. Anyhow, it’s all in good fun and helps kill time at work, and that’s what’s really important, isn’t it?

Thanks again to all our entrants and to everone that voted! Look out in the next couple weeks for another Office Photoshop Contest!

There’s a nice little article in the Chicago Red Eye* newspaper about TV blogging and how it’s become popular for shows to use another medium to promote themselves through character blogs. Including Schrute-Space, there’s a couple for “Gray’s Anatomy“, “How I Met Your Mother” and “Invasion“.

Most of the blogs are supposed to be written by the character of the show, however Rainn is the only actor who writes for his character’s blog. The other ones are written by writing assistants or the network’s “online team” (whatever that is). Rainn has a funny response at the end of the article when he’s talking about the girls who comment on his blog who ask him to introduce them to Jim. He says, “Normally, that might make Dwight jealous, but Dwight knows he’s a better salesman than Jim, and that’s what really counts.” I’ll try to scan the article sometime later today once the boss has left for the afternoon.

Again, just another reason why I love this cast and all the heart and soul they put into the show!

*The Red Eye is the Chicago Tribune’s answer for trying to get 20-somethings to read the newspaper paper and a free read for us commuters who want to avoid crazy people/panhandlers while riding the El to work).

Not sure if I’ll be able to make it or not, but would love to meet our favorite receptionist in person, and for an added bonus, get the hell scared out of me at the screening of their new movie!

3. Last chance to get in your entries for “The Office” Photoshop Contest!
